Bold and Beautiful: Evans Launches Design Competition For A Plus Size Collection
Evans, the curvy body champions of the high street, has become champions of new talent too. For their new campaign, The Cut, Evans turned to Kingston and Bournemouth universities (print and knitwear specialists respectively) to encourage students to create collections without size limitations. A panel of fashion experts including Louise Court, Kat Byrne and Remi Ray, blogger and founder of Plus Size Fashion Weekend, judged a host of applicants. The final result was the glorious fruit of Rebecca Partington and Alice Farrow’s labours. These contest-winners hit the Evans nail on the head with their collections – their inventions are not for the wallflower, nor are they dark or disguising in any way. With prints inspired by brightly coloured balloons, Rebecca’s cute knitted shifts and structured dresses are host to bright colours and painterly designs. Check them out below:
Meanwhile, Alice’s structured dresses use vibrant digital printed cottons, sculpted into modern structured and voluminous dresses – totally womanly, vivacious and dynamic. It’s less about thinking big, more thinking outside the shape-shifting box. Evans continue to wave the fashion flag for all dress sizes; breaking the rules whilst inspiring women to be creative and expressive and not restricted by their shape. A fashion celebration if ever there was one!
