Victoria Beckham is obsessed with Net-A-Porter. The fashion designer – who has four children with husband David Beckham – admitted she rarely gets time to go shopping so she buys most of her clothes on the luxury fashion site.

She told WWD: ”I like to shop online. I love Net-a-porter in particular. Being a working mum with four children having the ability to shop online is wonderful.” Victoria, 38, recently launched a Facebook page and said she hopes to use it to keep her fans updated on her clothing line.

She explained: ”Through both twitter and Facebook I’m looking to provide a sneak peek at the world of the Victoria Beckham brand with a global reach. You can expect to see exclusive photos, video and behind-the-scenes content. Also celebrity images, archive material relating to past collections and all up to the minute news – anything relevant pertaining to the brand and each of its categories. It’s also really important to me that the page is visually strong and I have spent a lot of time working on that aspect within the Facebook structure.”

Yesterday, the Duchess of Cambridge commissioned a pair of shoes from De Montfort University student Becka Hunt, who created the winning design in a footwear competition held at the University as part of the Royal Visit.

The institution, which played host to Her Majesty The Queen, His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh and the Duchess on the first stop of the official Diamond Jubilee Tour, showcased its fashion talent with a catwalk show featuring creations by four of DMU’s Fashion Design graduates, while incorporating the footwear designs from the six finalists.
The footwear competition to create a pair of shoes for the Duchess attracted more than a hundred entries by DMU’s Footwear Design students, and six finalists presented their visions and prototypes.

The winning design chosen by Catherine was Becka Hunt’s sapphire blue suede high heels with an ornate white floral pattern incorporating pearl detail and an open front, which were inspired by 19th century fashions while incorporating the Duchesses style, and will be presented to her at a future date.

Commenting on her win, Becka said: “I am absolutely overwhelmed, excited and amazed. The attention I have had since I was announced as the winner is all a little scary to be honest, but I have to say it has been great fun and hopefully this will be good for a future career.”

De Montfort University Vice-Chancellor Dominic Shellard added: “What a huge honour and magnificent opportunity this is for Becka. It’s amazing to think that the Duchess of Cambridge – the world’s leading fashion icon – is to wear a pair of shoes designed and made here at De Montfort University.”

Dame Vivienne Westwood believes modern day people have an ”ugly” dress sense. The 70-year-old designer – who is credited by many as starting the punk scene in the 1970s – thinks historical figures had a better idea of how to clothe themselves and encourages buyers to think more about their purchases rather than getting into ”disposable c**p”.

She said: ”In history people dressed much better than we do today.

”If you saw Queen Elizabeth it would be amazing, she came from another planet. She was so attractive in what she was wearing. People have never looked so ugly as they do today regarding their dress. Nobody is thinking. I’m talking about all of this disposable c**p. So I’m saying buy less, choose well, make it last.”

Vivienne was speaking as she showed her Red Label collection in London yesterday (19.02.12), with celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal and former model Janice Dickinson among the celebrities on the front row. The collection featured a heavily British theme, with headscarves akin to Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II making their mark.

High waisted trousers were also prevalent in the Autumn/Winter 2012/13, as was Vivienne’s trademark tartan. Matthew Williamson was among the other designers to show on Sunday, with a collection featuring above-the-knee skirts in a collection of metallic greys and blues. Acne’s range of red, orange and white clothes lit up the catwalk, with waist belts and coats making their presence known.

Those Victoria’s Secret models certainly have stamina. Alessandra Ambrosio walked the runway five months pregnant for Brazilian designer, Colcci, during Sao Paulo Fashion Week. The looks she wore included a loose fitting denim suit, and a crochet sweater with short shorts.

She was, we now know, two months pregnant when she walked the Victoria’s Secret show last November. Alessandra Ambrósio was pregnant on the Victoria’s Secret runway. “When I first found out I was pregnant I thought, ‘Oh my gosh I don’t think I’m going to be able to walk on the show’” she told US Weekly when she announced her pregnancy. “I didn’t tell anybody so no one knew at the show that I was pregnant,” she said. “A week before, I told my booker I don’t think I’m going to be able to fit into the clothes because I gained a few pounds already, but we were just quiet.”

Pregnant Lily Aldridge adds to Victoria’s Secret baby boom. Her baby bump was clearly visible at Colcci’s show, however. Fellow Victoria’s Secret model, Miranda Kerr, walked in the Balenciaga show while visibly pregnant during spring/summer 2011 Paris Fashion Week. Yet another Angel, Lily Aldridge, was also pregnant during the Victoria’s Secret show. Proof that being with child won’t stop the world’s most successful models from doing what they do best.

Hi, girls! Are you preparing for the coming Halloween 2011 party? No? I got it. You have already raked up you closet and unfortunately haven’t found anything suitable. Botched costumes from the past Halloween party, torn tights and other accessories all these mean you need Halloween costume help.

Here I have fresh new ideas on what to wear on Halloween 2011. So relax. If you follow my simple advices you won’t have any problems with halloween costume 2011. And of course you’ll be spotted on any Halloween party!

The ideal halloween costume 2011 for any it-girl is a right black dress for Halloween. This is the basis for the witch halloween costume 2011. I’ve some wonderful witch dresses from designer Davorka Pozgan.

This gorgeous black dress for Halloween seems to be taken right off the witch and you need to outwash it from the medieval dust! Put the black coat on to keep the mystery of your halloween costume 2011.

If you don’t like black dress for Halloween I propose you to make your witch a bit modern. Your witch-fashionista can also wear trousers, for example this one. Draped black-atlas trousers will perfectly emphasize your slim legs. Choose an unusual carved-leather top to make an accent on your chest. Try to wear it back to front if you can. It would be unforgettable!

What to wear on Halloween 2011? Then let’s talk about your boots. I want you to buy the stylish hot jackboots for your halloween costume 2011. Remember that this season the higher the boot-top the betters. It could be high heel latex black jackboots which you can wear now the then in everyday life for example with jeans and tunics. It’s better to find an edgy pair.

Who will believe you if you have no “witching” stick? Now I’ll talk about Halloween accessories. I propose to choose all the mortal theme rings, necklaces and bracelets. Death’s-heads, snakes and spiders and Alexander McQueeen will help you. To finish your halloween costume 2011 take this nice reticule with you on the party and be sure you won’t be raped this night!

I respect Sarah Jessica Parker a lot, both as an actress and a fashionista. As an actress because, somehow, her charisma and charm made Carrie Bradshaw – an intrinsically unlikeable character – the icon for a generation. Even though the show has been off the air for seven years, and the movies haven’t done anything to improve Sex and the City‘s legacy, women still proudly identify as being a “Carrie,” even though Carrie is kind of ridiculously self-centered and emotionally immature (Mr. Big over Aidan? Really?!). Of course I also have to respect SJP as a fashionista, because she is fearless, not afraid to mix different patterns, and is willing to embrace any aesthetic. She’s always fun to watch, and I love that in a fashionista.

This outfit consists of a lot of versatile basics, which I think is always a good, solid look. A black coat with a black tank layered under a white tank is striking, but simple. Combined with some pants that have subtle leather finishes, this becomes a sleek and polished look. White kitten heels are a cute and functional shoe choice (though if you’re like me, you would probably recreate this with heels at least twice as high, or perhaps a more vibrant color). Sarah Jessica Parker chose a dark blue statement bag, which is an interesting choice, and a lot less predictable than a black or white bag. This is a perfect low-maintenance aesthetic that still looks well thought out and put together.

Guests were met by an underwater playground at the Chanel show which opened the Paris collections yesterday. Florence Welch played live standing in a seashell.

This was a fashion blockbuster par excellence and, as is the custom with the house, the entire interior of the Grand Palais had been transformed overnight. And so the catwalk was a sandy white seabed surrounded by undulating Perspex walls. Sprays of coral, pebbles and even the odd pleasingly rounded fish – about the size of a very lucky child’s bedroom just to illustrate the scale – were strategically placed all around.??

Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel ‘s creative director, appeared to be on light and optimistic form. Sweet trapeze line jackets were studded with pearls, Gabrielle Chanel’s jewel of choice, as so too were buttons, belts and indeed models faces and hair. Nods to the heritage of this great fashion name didn’t stop there. The Chanel suit – in optic white, or sea blue and green tweeds – the little black dress – embellished with circles of chiffon at the hip or with a crisp white collar – the camellia – pretty in pale pink on a print – were all in evidence as they always must be. The fusion of the elegant and dignified and the fresh and new was seamless.

It is just over six months since Catherine Middleton married Prince William in a gown designed by Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton. Her first show since that time was a quieter affair than Lagerfeld’s for Chanel but one no less impressive for that.

“I was thinking about a woman as an object of desire,” Burton stated. “We go to such lengths to adorn ourselves that we almost become our clothes. This is a collection about excess – an exploration of ideals of beauty at their most extreme.”

Stepping out onto a cracked plaster platform overhung with lights reminiscent of stalactites, models wore signature power tailoring, ruffled chiffon dresses and the type of exquisitely crafted eveningwear that this name is now famous for. It had never seemed so ornate. Hand-pleating, jewel encrusted lace embroideries, waterfall ruffles and frills, laser cut leather , fine metalwork and more covered every surface and the beauty of it all was that nothing ever seemed heavy or overwrought.

Such was the technical virtuosity of the engineering that clothing appeared almost moulded to the body and that extended to the hair and make-up treatment – heads were veiled with more of the finest lace.

Alexander McQueen died in February 2010 and Burton, who worked with him for 16 years, has risen to the challenge of moving on the label that he founded admirably. In her sensitive hands, every reference to her mentor appears as a heart-felt tribute. Here too references to the ocean resonated. In particular a dress constructed entirely out of opalescent shells was a tender homage to the late designer.

More than 600,000 people stopped by to see the gown during the 10 weeks it was on display in the palace, crushing the previous record of 420,000 visitors set back in 1994.

Palace officials have not yet released a figure for the amount of money raised by the summer opening, which ended on Monday, but it would equate to £10.5m worth of sales at the full ticket price of £17.50. Millions more are likely to have been spent in official Palace gift shops.

Most of the money raised will go to the Royal Collection, which maintains the thousands of paintings and other treasures at the Royal palaces, but a slice of the money will go to charity, in accordance with the wishes of the Duchess.

New York-based fashion designer Jason Wu is the latest designer to sign up to produce a special collection for US retailer Target. The limited edition collection for spring will include womenswear, scarves and handbags, and will be priced from $19.99 to $59.99. The line launches on February 5, 2012, and will be available until March 6, 2012 at most Target stores and Target.com.

“My collection for Target embodies my signature aesthetic of feminine sophistication, with a mischievous nod to the 1960s,” said Jason Wu. “I’ve had an incredible experience partnering with Target and I am looking forward to bringing these affordable designs to women across the country.”
Jason Wu follows in the footsteps of other designers Proenza Schouler, Rodarte, Thakoon and most recently, Italian fashion house Missoni, which crashed the retailer’s website when it launched. But unlike those designers the Jason Wu for Target collection is a standalone, limited-edition designer range for Target and is not part of Target’s GO International or Designer Collaborations programs.

The news comes after Target’s Twitter @TargetStyle tweeted clues over the weekend, such as “If I wasn’t a designer, I would be a pastry chef”, as well as a sneak peek at fabric swatches and a sketch of the line’s muse, Milu the cat.

“Jason Wu has quickly established himself as one of the most influential designers of today,” said Trish Adams, Senior Vice President of Apparel and Accessories, Target. “His talent for creating modern, yet feminine designs translated beautifully into an affordable collection that our guests will covet the moment it’s available.”

The Design Museum, London has announced that it is to host Christian Louboutin’s first ever UK retrospective exhibition next year, as part of the footwear designer’s 20th anniversary of the opening of his first store in Paris in 1992. The show will takes place from March 28-July 1, and will explore Christian Louboutin’s 20 years in the shoe industry and how the designer has transformed the design of the shoe.

The exhibition will profile Louboutin’s creative approach, together with the influences behind his work ranging from the Parisian music hall, travel, art, landscape architecture and film. A special focus will also be given to the origins of Louboutin’s trademark glossy red soles, which recently hit headlines as the designer lost a trademark case against Yves Saint Laurent.

The news coincides with the launch of Christian Louboutin’s debut self-titled book, which features an intricate five-piece foldout binding and pop-up cover, as well as photography captured by Philippe Garcia. The book is divided into six chapters; the first documents Louboutin’s biography, covering his early work for Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent; the second looks at the label’s extravagant interiors of the brand’s international stores; the third looks at his shoe designs over the years; the fourth features intimate photographs of the designer’s Paris and Egypt homes, while chapter five is dedicated to the collaboration his did with film director David Lynch. The final chapter is a complete catalogue of his work, with photos of all 120 shoe designs.

Christian Louboutin will be on show at the Design Museum from 28 March-1 July, 2012.
