Escada Design Competition for Students

Escada, the international fashion company for women’s wear and fashions accessory, has released a contest to acquire a victorious design sketch with the reward of a 6-months internship in the Escada design department at its Munich head offices.

In festivity of the Design Museum’s Drawing Fashion exhibition, which showcases fashion images from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, the fashion house is giving one fortunate design students the possibility to generate an evening gown to feature in the brand’s upcoming collections.

Pointing out the teamwork with the Design Museum, Daniel Wingate, Design Director at Escada, declared: “Before the camera and the internet brought us fashion, fashion illustration was the creative media that taught all how and what to wear. Escada is therefore very proud to be a part of the Drawing Fashion exhibition which celebrates not only the initial processes of fashion, but also the glamorous history which still inspires the designers of today.”

To take part in the competition, students must present a sketch drawing of an evening dress that best embodies the Escada brand DNA of “modern elegance, glamour and sensuality”. The winning sketch will be selected by Wingate.

The competition, which launched this month, is open to final year or currently graduated BA or MA fashion design students who have studied at a UK or Ireland university. The finishing date for submissions is 31 January 2010.

With its brands the Escada Group ranks as one of the world’s chiefs in international ready-to-wear women’s fashion. Nowadays Escada, founded in 1976, possesses a market presence in more than 80 states.
